Employer and Candidate Find Success with AgCareers.com

The Georgia Cattlemen’s Association was recently looking to fill their Director of Communications position. Upon a suggestion from Suzanne Black, their Director of Public Relations and Industry Information, and former AgCareers.com Campus Ambassador (2012/2013) at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, they decided to try advertising the opening on AgCareers.com.

“It was the first time we used the site,” said Michele Creamer, Director of Operations, Georgia Cattlemen’s Association. “We were very impressed with the resumes that we received. It could not have been any simpler. We were extremely pleased with the process,” added Creamer.

Bailey Toates was searching for a job in the agricultural field. Her family has a registered Santa Gertrudis and commercial operation in Missouri, and she was active in 4-H and FFA growing up. She went on to major in animal science and agricultural communications at Oklahoma State University. Toates stepped up her job search process during her last semester of college. She originally heard about AgCareers.com from another campus ambassador who was at Oklahoma State in 2011/2012 when she was looking for an internship.

“Graduation came and went with no job offers; I moved back home and felt like I was looking everywhere for a job,” said Toates. She went to visit her high school Ag teacher and he asked if she had looked on AgCareers.com recently. Toates logged on that evening and found the job posting with Georgia Cattlemen’s Association. She submitted her application that evening and said she found AgCareers.com to be “very user friendly and made the whole process very easy.” She received a phone call the next day asking for a phone interview. A few days later she was on a plane to Georgia for a second interview. “The day of the interview I was offered the position and moved 900 miles across the country the following week,” shared Toates.

Now in Toates position as the Director of Communications and Youth Activities at the association, she coordinates magazine efforts, is responsible for 600 junior members, and works on youth events throughout the year. The Georgia Cattlemen’s Association is a membership organization that promotes beef and cattle in Georgia.
