We are seeking an experienced leader with expertise in building computational tools for spatial transcriptomics and multi-omics single cell sequencing technologies to join the Genome Sciences (GS) team within the Department of Data & Genome Sciences (DGS) at Our Company's Research Laboratories in Cambridge, MA. Our group utilizes innovative Spatial Transcriptomics (Visium, MERSCOPE, CosMx, Xenium) and multi-omics single cell approaches (REAP-seq/CITE-seq, CROP-seq/Perturb-Seq, Immune profiling, Multiome ATAC-seq) to impact all stages of the drug development pipeline from pre-clinical to clinical development. Genome Sciences collaborates closely with the discovery therapeutic areas (i.e., oncology, immunology, neuroscience and cardiometabolic disease) and functional areas (i.e. Data & Genome Sciences, Data Science & Scientific Informatics, Quantitative Bioscience, and ChemBio) within the Discovery, Preclinical and Translational Medicine (DPTM) organization to leverage these leading edge technologies for novel target and biomarker identification and validation or to better understand therapeutic mechanisms of action for diseases with high unmet need.
We are seeking a passionate scientific leader who will be responsible for managing a team of computational scientists focused on developing, implementing and utilizing novel computational tools and pipelines. This individual and team will work together with data scientists and experimental biologists to derive impacts from these innovative and leading-edge wet lab technologies and computational tools.
The responsibilities of the candidate include but are not limited to:
Leadership and management of a team of scientists with broad expertise in developing and leveraging computational tools and platforms for spatial and multi-omics sequencing technologies.
Collaborate closely with experimental biologists within GS to build computational tools and platforms for the high throughput leading-edge multi-omics technologies they are building in the wet lab
Collaborate with data scientists and experimental biologists to leverage these innovative and leading-edge wet lab technologies and computational tools for maximal impact on the drug development pipeline
Work closely with IT and bioinformatic groups across our Research & Development Division to communicate and coordinate data analysis needs for establishing new bioinformatic pipelines or modifying existing pipelines to ensure timely analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication of study results to project teams and leadership
Foster a high-performing culture of collaboration, engagement, self-accountability and inclusion
Establish strong relationships within and across highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams to effectively drive early drug discovery initiatives
Education Minimum Requirement:
Ph.D. degree with 8+ years of post-graduate experience
Required skills and experiences:
A proven track record of building computational tools across a wide range of high throughput genomic and high content imaging technologies (i.e., multi-omics single cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, digital pathology) and integration with other omics data
Expertise with developing and/or implementing novel data analysis tools and interactive visualization interfaces for biologists without computational backgrounds to enable rapid technology development cycles and exploration of the data
Experience managing a group of scientists with a track record of achievements, driving group strategy, and leading projects
Ability to build strong relationships within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams to effectively drive early drug discovery initiatives
Highly self-motivated and capable of prioritizing deliverables among multiple simultaneous projects
Excellent attention to detail and strong communication (oral and written) skills
Expertise in multiple programming languages, such as R and Python
Expertise with high-performance Linux cluster and cloud computing
Experience with reproducible research tools and version control
Familiarity with data visualization packages, such as R Shiny, ggplot, or plotly
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Previous experience in pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry
