The Screening & Compound Profiling Group is seeking a highly motivated Associate Principal Scientist with a strong background in the development of physiological relevant cellular assays to join our Quantitative Biosciences Department at our Research Laboratories in Kenilworth, NJ. The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to develop high-content screening assays to support screening small molecules, peptides and arrayed CRISPR for oncology, immunology, neuroscience and cardiovascular disease areas. The ideal candidate will have experience with cell-painting phenotypic assays and have a good understanding of advances in image and data analysis methods using machine and deep learning. Knowledge and understanding of miniaturized assays (384/1536 well) and downstream detectors ranging from standard luminescence-/fluorescence-based readouts to imaging and cell-microarray based platforms is desired. Experience with high-content phenotypic screening and analysis, ideally experience with cell-painting.
Experience in cellular assay development with proficiency in high-content screening and image analysis using primary cultures and cell lines
Focus on high throughput complex cell models (3D, iPSC, co-culture systems) to enable the development of 'assays at scale'
Ability and willingness to think "outside the box" to develop and adopt emerging cell biology technologies to support HTS (i.e. microfluidics, cell microarray platforms)
Collaborate with Project teams to develop innovative approaches to target-based and phenotypic screening for small molecule discovery efforts
Oversee and manage the design, planning and execution of robust scientific research activities
Solid understanding of data analysis workflows and statistical principles as well as AI/ML used in screening
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in complex image and data analysis methods.
Collaborate in an integrated, multidisciplinary team environment
Education
Ph.D. in Biology or equivalent plus > 5 years' experience in cellular pharmacology, HTS and/or cell-based assay development
Required
Bachelor's degree: 12 years' experience | Master's Degree: 8 years' experience | PhD Degree: 5 years' experience (experience must be in assay development and high throughput screening, with the ability to succeed in a collaborative, highly matrixed environment)
