The successful candidate will combine process engineering expertise, scientific rigor, and business acumen to accelerate innovation and drive value creation across McCain’s portfolio.

What you’ll be doing.

  • Lead technology development projects from ideation through proof of concept, pilot, and scale-up activities.
  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments to identify and mitigate key technical and scale-up risks early in the development process.
  • Validate new processes for efficiency, quality, food safety, manufacturability, and commercial readiness.
  • Translate technical learnings into clear recommendations, including go/no-go/pivot decisions that support effective investment choices.
  • Define critical process attributes and convert them into equipment, system, and operational requirements.
  • Integrate process science with manufacturing, supply chain, capital investment, and cost considerations to ensure scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Operations, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, Quality, and external organizations.
  • Connect technical outcomes to business value through assessments of cost, margin improvement, risk reduction, and growth opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation, project updates, insights, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Own project workstreams with clearly defined milestones, learning objectives, deliverables, and exit criteria.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the advancement of technical expertise across the organization.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) within a defined technical area such as coatings, thermal processing, or related disciplines.

What you’ll need to be successful.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in process development, process engineering, scale-up, manufacturing, or related technical roles.
  • Demonstrated success leading projects and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience working with innovative, emerging, or early-stage technologies is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality systems, regulatory requirements, and industrial process design.
  • Experience progressing concepts from proof of concept through pilot-scale development.
  • Knowledge of technology commercialization, intellectual property, external partnerships, and contract considerations.
  • Recognized expertise in a technical specialty area, with demonstrated internal and/or external credibility.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities in ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to connect technical decisions and recommendations to business outcomes using a DVF mindset.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, planning capability, and accountability for results.
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to challenge conventional thinking and explore new opportunities.
