About the role.

 

What you’ll be doing.

As an Industrial Mechanic II, you will help drive plant performance by ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. In this role, you will perform routine and preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and support the installation and improvement of production equipment. Your expertise will be essential to minimizing downtime, maintaining productivity, and supporting food safety and quality standards. Your day-to-day may consist of:

  • Troubleshoot, perform breakdown, preventive, and predictive maintenance on food processing and auxiliary equipment, ensuring food safety and compliance with GMP and safety guidelines.
  • Execute maintenance tasks efficiently, maintain accountability for work orders, tools, equipment uptime, and reliability, and document repair records and downtime events.
  • Communicate effectively with production, quality teams, and the Maintenance Supervisor regarding equipment status, maintenance concerns, and repair needs.
  • Utilize computer systems for work order management and part location, and maintain availability for emergency repair of critical equipment at the McCain Plover plant.
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment, coordinate daily duties with the Maintenance Supervisor, and perform all other assigned tasks.
     

This role works in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to loud noises, strong odors, temperature fluctuations, moving machinery, wet or humid conditions, hazardous chemicals, high or confined areas, extreme temperatures, and vibration throughout various facility areas. This role also regularly engages in prolonged standing, walking, communicating, and sensory tasks throughout each shift, while frequently handling objects, climbing, balancing, and performing various physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as part of job duties. The use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus is required.  

 

Available Shift: PM Shift (6PM-6AM) on a 2-2-3 schedule, shift differential offered.

 

What you’ll need to be successful.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, two-year technical degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of working knowledge of food processing equipment required.
  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge equivalent to a technical certificate program required; Electromechanical degree or Journeyman status preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs (especially Allen Bradley), robotics, variable speed drives, servo controls, and process controllers, with relevant programming experience preferred.
  • Proficient in metalworking skills including TIG welding, metal fabrication, and operation of machinery such as lathe, mill, shear, brake, and ironworker.
  • Maintains a continuous learning mindset and adapts quickly to new equipment, processes, and roles.
  • Demonstrates strong technical ability with a digital-first approach, embracing new technologies and accurately entering data.
  • Communicates clearly with all levels of the organization, follows instructions (written/oral/diagram form), and completes necessary documentation independently in English.
  • Pays close attention to detail, prioritizing product quality, safety, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Physically capable of meeting job requirements and consistently brings a positive, team-focused attitude to work.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, technical proficiency, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills while working independently or collaboratively to ensure effective and logical decision-making in diverse situations.
  • Demonstrates the physical capability to bend frequently and lift heavy objects (up to 40 pounds).

Compensation Package: Starting at $33.18 USD hourly + bonus eligibility + hourly pay differential for applicable shifts
