General Laborer - Research Farm

About the role.  

McCain Research Farm is looking for General Laborers at our Florenceville, New Brunswick location to assist with harvesting duties from August until end of October.

Working closely with growers, researchers, and industry partners, the Research Farm plays a critical role in improving crop performance, sustainability, and productivity. Backed by the global reach and resources of McCain Foods Limited, the Research Farm serves as a hub for agricultural innovation, helping to ensure a strong and sustainable future for potato production while supporting growers and communities around the world. 

 

What you'll be doing.  

  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and requirements.  
  • Handle materials, including 25-50 lb tubs and pails. 
  • Lift up to 50 lbs safely and effectively. 
  • Inspect raw potatoes entering storage facilities and remove rocks, debris, and other foreign material from incoming loads. 
  • Perform sanitation and housekeeping duties as required. 
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and maintain equipment as needed. 
  • Communicate and relay information effectively with team members. 
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment. 
  • Participate in team meetings and operational discussions as required. 
  • Support additional operational duties as assigned. 
     

What you'll need to be successful.  

  • Grade 12 education or GED preferred. High school students aged 16 and older may be considered for work outside school hours. 
  • Ability to work well with supervision and other employees. 
  • Team-oriented attitude with a strong attendance record. 
  • Highly motivated, observant, and able to demonstrate initiative. 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing operational needs. 
  • Willingness to work weekends as required. 
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision. 
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a safety-first mindset at all times.

Compensation Package: Starting at $18.50 CAD hourly.
