About the role
McCain Produce Inc. is currently seeking a General Labourer to join our team at the Lansdowne Potato Packing Facility. This facility operates approximately 10 months each year, with a seasonal shutdown during the summer months. As a General Labourer, you will play an important role in maintaining product quality, supporting production operations, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
What you'll be doing
- Follow all company safety, food safety, and quality requirements.
- Sort, grade, inspect, and package potatoes according to established standards.
- Remove rocks, debris, defective products, and foreign material from production lines.
- Perform material handling duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Assist with product movement and packaging operations throughout the facility.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area through daily housekeeping and sanitation activities.
- Monitor product quality and report concerns to supervisors.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve production targets.
- Participate in team meetings and training as required.
- Assist with equipment operation and report maintenance concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to be successful
- Previous experience in manufacturing, warehousing, agriculture, or food production is considered an asset.
- Reliable transportation to and from the facility.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding work.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout a shift.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attendance and reliability.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to work varying shifts, weekends, overtime, and extended hours as required.

Compensation Package: Starting at $18.50 CAD hourly
