The Opportunity:

As one of the only CPG companies headquartered in Canada, a marketing career at Maple Leaf offers you a unique opportunity to develop strategies and act as the general manager of a business, rather than work out of a satellite office. The Marketing Associate will work with and learn from an experienced Marketing Manager. This is a unique opportunity to own and manage all aspects of the P&L for important categories, execute category plans, lead innovation, and provide category reporting and analysis. You will lead a cross-functional team to ensure strategic priorities and category plans are executed. This position requires balancing creative skills with critical thinking, project management, and performance measurement. The successful candidate is someone who wants to build a career in CPG marketing and brings a passion for getting things done.

Compensation:  $71,000 - $103,000 CAD base pay annually plus annual short-term incentive
 

The above compensation reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours.  In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf's annual short-term incentive plan. 

 

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Ownership and end-to-end category management at Maple Leaf Foods
  • Work with the marketing manager to develop and bring category plans to life to deliver category growth and successfully differentiate MLF from our competitors
  • Identify and develop innovation opportunities and lead commercialization from concept to launch in partnership with CEM and cross-functional teams to deliver successful, on-time launches.
  • Consistently leverage data and develop insights from Nielsen and internal data sources to provide category share and financial reporting and analysis for the category, including weekly, monthly, and annual rhythms as well as ad hoc analyses
  • Analyze brands, market, and competitive trends and recommend suitable actions
  • Partner with our sales team to ensure flawless execution of ongoing and new programs

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Post-secondary degree in Business or Marketing
  • 2-4 years previous experience in marketing, sales, finance, category management or analytics roles within consumer packaged goods or grocery industry
  • Drive to learn and contribute curiosity, keen desire to win
  • Agility: must be proactive, high energy, and have a keen desire to win and be able to stay focused on key business priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
  • Analytics & Critical Thinking: ability to organize and interpret the data, synthesize insights and consider implications to the business
  • Ability to lead by influence: well-developed people and collaboration skills, ability to effectively engage a cross-functional team to move projects forward with pace
  • Project management experience:  highly organized and detail oriented, with strong time management skills
  • Previous experience with P&Ls and PowerBI an asset
