SUMMARY The GTC Associate Manager is responsible for supporting for all aspects of the Companys trade compliance program. A successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders and other members of the Companys global GTC team. He or she will also support the creation and implementation of trade compliance policy and initiatives globally.
* Reduced Customs delays for international shipments. Enhanced compliance/reduced penalties and governmental audits. Reduced duty and taxes paid on imports. 20%
* Enhanced knowledge of GTC topics (Incoterms, free trade agreements, etc. across the company. This training will reduce Customs delays for international shipments. 20%* Early identification of and business adjustment to regulatory changes. 10%* Oversight of information that Simplot provides to Customs authorities when clearing international shipments. 10%* The GTM system, part of Bedrock, will enable Simplots GTC team to store and distribute trade compliance data to its customs brokers. The specialist will determine trade compliance information and input it into the GTM system. 20%* Resolution of ad-hoc compliance issues that create customs delays for our international shipments. Much of this time will be spent communicating with other operational employees and external customs brokers. 10%* Compliance with governmental recordkeeping requirements. Ability to identify and recall import and shipment documents in a timely manner in the event of an audit or violation. 10%
REQUIREMENTSBachelor's Degree from 4 year college/university or Licensed Customs Broker required. Three - five plus years related experience and/or training. Fluent Spanish preferred. Ability to travel internationally (10%). Ability to assist with cross-functional projects. Comprehension of relevant global trade compliance subject matter including HTS classifications, export control classifications, free trade agreement qualification, and auditing. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to build relationships and work well with employees at all levels.Prior experience working for any of the following: A trade compliance practice at a law firm or Big 4 accounting firm, A Customs authority (government employee), A global trade compliance team at a global food company. Experience coordinating with the FDA, USDA, EPA and other Partner Government Agencies. Experience with regulatory import requirements (e.g. food safety registration numbers). Experience with GTM software. Adheres to all standards, policies and systems as appropriate.
