We currently have a Lead Cowboy position available at our Land & Livestock facility in Burbank, WA.
Assists in the care and treatment of cattle; acts as a liaison in order to communicate job assignments to the cowboy crew from the Cattle Manager by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors cattle by riding feedlot pens and/or open range in order to identify sick, injured, or stressed animals; removes the sick or injured animals to be medically treated. Supervises the physical movement of cattle upon the Cattle Manager's request.
Supervises the cowboy crew in assignments from Cattle Manager to ensure completion of tasks within given time constraints.
Assists the Cattle Manager with the receiving, shipping, sorting, and processing of cattle. Assists in the medical treatment of sick or injured cattle by following an established medical-treatment plan provided by the Staff Veterinarian.
Trains, shoes, feeds, and medically treats horses in order to provide healthy, productive animals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Three or more years experience in an agriculture environment with a demonstrated ability to work with cattle; familiarity with cattle diseases, calving, feeding, and movement. Prior supervisory experience helpful.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to saddle and ride a horse. Must provide own tack.
