Hansen Agri PLACEMENT is assisting a progressive Wyoming ranch operation in the search for an experienced Ranch Foreman / Livestock Manager. This is a key leadership position for an experienced cattleman with a strong cow/calf background who is comfortable taking responsibility for livestock operations and working independently.
The ranch operates across multiple locations, so this is not a position where all cattle, facilities, and grazing areas are located around one headquarters. The successful candidate must be comfortable traveling between ranch properties, managing priorities independently, and making sound decisions without constant supervision.
This position may also be suitable for a qualified couple.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily cattle operations including calving, breeding, feeding, doctoring, shipping, and cattle movement
- Maintain accurate cattle records including calving, treatments, inventory, sales, death loss, and movements
- Manage cattle nutrition, feeding programs, and forage utilization
- Assist with seasonal grazing plans and cattle movement
- Monitor cattle, water, fences, feed, and grazing conditions throughout ranch properties
- Assist with hay and forage production
- Operate and maintain ranch equipment and vehicles
- Assist with fencing, corrals, water systems, roads, buildings, and other ranch infrastructure
- Coordinate daily livestock and ranch priorities with management
- Supervise and work alongside ranch employees and seasonal help
- Utilize technology for cattle records and operational information
- Identify problems, establish priorities, and make sound decisions when working independently
- Assist wherever needed to keep ranch operations running efficiently
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 15 years of ranch and livestock experience
- Strong commercial cow/calf background
- Experience with calving, herd health, cattle nutrition, feeding, and livestock management
- Strong cattle record keeping and inventory management skills
- Comfortable using technology for livestock records and reporting
- Hay production and equipment operating experience
- Good mechanical aptitude preferred
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Able to work independently and manage responsibilities across multiple ranch locations
- Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
- Dependable and capable of making sound decisions without daily supervision
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist in all areas of ranch operations
- Team oriented and able to work effectively with management and other employees
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary: $50,000 to $75,000 depending on experience and qualifications
