Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is seeking a dependable, trustworthy Ranch Assistant for an established cattle operation in Nevada. This is a year-round position supporting a diverse livestock and agricultural operation.

The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day ranch activities including cattle care, irrigation, fencing, feeding, weed control, equipment operation, property maintenance and general ranch duties. The position will involve working at different ranch locations throughout the year based on seasonal operational needs.

Housing is provided.

This is not strictly a cowboy position. The operation is looking for someone who enjoys a variety of agricultural work and is comfortable working with both livestock and the land. Horseback riding is helpful but is not a primary requirement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with the care, feeding and management of cattle
• Operate and maintain irrigation systems
• Maintain, repair and construct fencing
• Assist with seasonal cattle work and calving
• Perform weed and vegetation control
• Operate tractors, ATVs/UTVs and other ranch equipment
• Perform general mechanical repairs and maintenance
• Maintain ranch facilities, water systems and infrastructure
• Monitor livestock, pastures, fences and water sources
• Assist with general agricultural and ranch operations
• Work independently and take responsibility for assigned areas
• Relocate between ranch locations as seasonal needs require

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous ranch, farm or agricultural experience preferred
• Cattle experience preferred
• Irrigation and fencing experience highly desirable
• Mechanically inclined with basic repair skills
• Comfortable operating tractors, ATVs/UTVs and other equipment
• Dependable and capable of working independently
• Strong work ethic and good attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a rural and occasionally remote environment
• Willing to relocate seasonally as required by the operation
• Horseback riding experience is a plus, but not required
• Must demonstrate excellent character and strong personal integrity

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a mature, dependable and self-motivated individual who enjoys agricultural and ranch work and is comfortable wearing many hats.

This person should be someone the owners can trust to take care of livestock, equipment, property and daily responsibilities with limited supervision. Good judgment, initiative, mechanical ability and a willingness to tackle whatever needs to be done will be important to success in this position.
