Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for an Operations Specialist for a progressive and diversified agricultural operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants hands-on involvement in multiple areas of production agriculture, including cattle, row crop production, and manure application. This position will work throughout the operation, gaining exposure to each area while assisting wherever needed. The employer is looking for someone with a strong agricultural background who is dependable, self-motivated, willing to learn, and comfortable moving between livestock, crop production, equipment operation, and seasonal manure application responsibilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

CATTLE:

  • Assist with the daily care and management of cattle.
  • Observe cattle daily and report potential health concerns.
  • Administer vaccinations and assist with established treatment protocols.
  • Maintain inventory of feed commodities, medications, implants, vaccines, and related supplies.
  • Assist with cattle feeding and feed delivery.
  • Follow established rations and feeding schedules.
  • Load and deliver feed while maximizing truck loads according to required weights and rations.
  • Complete required daily feeding and cattle records.
  • Assist with maintenance of livestock facilities, equipment, and fences.

ROW CROP:

  • Assist with all aspects of crop production, from input application through harvest, grain handling, and transportation.
  • Operate large agricultural equipment used in crop production.
  • Utilize precision agriculture technology during field operations.
  • Document and track equipment use and maintenance.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance as needed.

MANURE APPLICATION:

  • Safely operate manure application equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on manure equipment as needed.
  • During seasonal application periods, assist with and provide leadership for manure application activities.
  • Help coordinate daily application activities according to field readiness.
  • Ensure proper manure application rates are followed.
  • Monitor manure application equipment and toolbar operation.
  • Assist with proper and efficient movement of application hose to maintain productivity and prevent equipment damage.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems as they arise.
  • Coordinate outside repair services when issues cannot be handled internally.
  • Assist with moving pumps, hoses, and related equipment between application locations.

GENERAL:

  • Assist with special projects and other operational needs as requested.
  • Work effectively with employees throughout the agricultural operation.
  • Problem-solve and prioritize daily responsibilities according to operational needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous knowledge and experience within agriculture.
  • College degree in an agriculture-related field preferred but not required.
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter mentality.
  • Ability to problem-solve and prioritize daily responsibilities.
  • Willingness to work in multiple areas of a diversified agricultural operation.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills, including common office, email, spreadsheet, and recordkeeping programs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.


SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time position with a typical Monday through Friday schedule. Rotating weekend work is required, along with occasional evening hours as operational and seasonal demands require.


PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a hands-on agricultural position involving work around cattle, agricultural machinery, crop production, and manure application equipment. Duties may be performed indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment, and vibration. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive physical tasks. Must be able to lift up to approximately 75 pounds and climb ladders and gates as required.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Compensation averages approximately $65,000-$70,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and position structure. Employer is open to either an hourly or salaried arrangement. Potential bonus opportunity depending on the candidate.
