Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for an experienced Nutrient Management Supervisor for an established and progressive agricultural operation. This is a key hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing manure application operations, leading and training employees, coordinating application schedules, maintaining equipment, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with nutrient management plans and applicable regulations. The employer is looking for someone who understands manure application from both an operational and management standpoint. This individual should be comfortable leading a crew while also jumping into equipment when needed. Strong organization, communication, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to adjust quickly to changing field and weather conditions will be important for success in this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead, train, schedule, and supervise employees involved in manure application operations.
• Coordinate daily application activities according to field readiness, weather conditions, application schedules, and operational needs.
• Safely operate and oversee manure application equipment, pumps, hose systems, tractors, and related agricultural equipment.
• Ensure manure is applied at proper rates and according to nutrient management plans.
• Monitor application equipment, toolbars, pumps, and hose systems to maintain efficient operation and minimize the potential for equipment damage or spills.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for manure application activities.
• Maintain appropriate biosecurity procedures when moving employees and equipment between livestock production sites.
• Maintain accurate manure application records and enter required field and operational data.
• Coordinate with outside manure application contractors when necessary.
• Complete required documentation associated with application activities, contractors, producers, and manure recipients.
• Oversee preventative maintenance and repair schedules for manure application equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems in the field and coordinate outside repair services when necessary.
• Utilize precision agriculture and field data systems to document and manage application information.
• Assist with nutrient management planning, including manure application rates, cost-per-acre calculations, and comparisons with commercial fertilizer programs.
• Coordinate activities involving composted and dry manure, including sampling, temperature monitoring, equipment operation, application, and recordkeeping.
• Verify required soil sampling, field information, and other documentation associated with nutrient management plans.
• Assist with moving pumps, hoses, and equipment between application sites.
• Serve as a backup equipment operator when needed.
• During the off-season, assist with equipment maintenance and repair, machinery preparation and storage, agricultural equipment operation, grain or forage hauling, snow removal, and other operational projects.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support the operation.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, assign, and direct the work of employees assigned to manure application operations.
• Train new and existing employees on proper procedures, equipment operation, safety, and application practices.
• Provide employees with regular direction, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Conduct employee performance evaluations.
• Work with management to address staffing, performance, and employee-related matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years of manure application and agricultural production experience preferred.
• Valid, unrestricted Class A CDL.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Strong working knowledge of manure application and agricultural equipment.
• Previous supervisory or crew leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with precision agriculture and field data management systems is beneficial.
• Understanding of nutrient management plans, manure application practices, and applicable environmental requirements.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform routine maintenance and repairs.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with employees, producers, contractors, and management.
• Ability to prioritize work and make sound decisions as field, weather, and operational conditions change.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to remain actively involved in day-to-day operations.
• Must be willing and able to work extended hours and weekends during peak spring and fall application seasons.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a hands-on agricultural position involving a combination of field and office responsibilities. The employee will regularly work outdoors around livestock facilities and agricultural equipment and may be exposed to changing weather conditions, dust, noise, fumes, and gases. Must be able to climb in and out of agricultural equipment, perform repetitive physical tasks, bend, kneel, stoop, and occasionally lift or move up to approximately 75 pounds. The position may also require driving or operating equipment for extended periods.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

$80,000-$100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate.

Additional compensation includes 5-10% bonus potential.
