Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least 3 years of HR leadership experience
- Experience leading HR for a larger workforce or multi-site organization
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment law, HR compliance, performance management, recruiting, compensation, and benefits
- Experience with workplace safety, workers' compensation, and OSHA/Cal-OSHA compliance
- Hands on payroll and HRIS experience
- Agriculture, food manufacturing, production, or similar industry experience preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish verbal and written communication skills highly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred
- SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR, SPHR-CA, or similar professional HR certification preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and employee development skills
Job Description:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a diversified agricultural and food production company in California seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations across multiple business units and locations. This position will work closely with ownership and company leadership while supporting employees and managers throughout the organization.
The HR Manager will oversee the complete employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, benefits administration, payroll oversight, leave management, and offboarding. This individual will serve as a trusted resource to managers and employees while helping develop a positive, accountable, and team-oriented workplace culture.
Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal, state, and California employment regulations; managing employee relations and workplace investigations; overseeing workers' compensation and return-to-work programs; and leading workplace safety initiatives, training, and Cal-OSHA compliance. The HR Manager will also evaluate and improve HR policies, procedures, and systems as the organization continues to grow.
Additional responsibilities include overseeing recruitment and staffing, HRIS and employee records, compensation and benefits programs, payroll processes, employee evaluations, management training, and employee development. The HR Manager will supervise HR staff and work closely with managers throughout the organization to improve communication, accountability, employee retention, and overall organizational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will be an approachable, hands on HR leader who is comfortable working in an agricultural and production environment and can balance day-to-day employee needs with strategic HR leadership.
