Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Feedlot Specialist for an established agricultural operation. This is a hands-on position involved in the daily care, health, feeding, and management of cattle along with equipment operation and general feedlot responsibilities. The employer is looking for a dependable individual who is comfortable working around livestock and takes pride in properly caring for cattle. This person will be responsible for observing cattle daily, identifying potential health concerns, administering established treatment protocols, maintaining accurate records, assisting with feeding, and helping keep the feedlot and equipment in good working condition.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Observe cattle daily and monitor overall health, condition, behavior, feed intake, water intake, and mobility.
• Identify cattle showing signs of illness, injury, or other health concerns.
• Pull and move cattle requiring treatment as needed.
• Administer established treatment protocols, including approved medications and other treatments as directed.
• Assist with approved euthanasia procedures when necessary.
• Administer vaccinations as required.
• Accurately document cattle treatments and maintain treatment histories.
• Complete daily animal health, feeding, commodity, and other required records.
• Assist with morning and afternoon cattle feeding.
• Follow established feed schedules and rations.
• Accurately mix feed and assist with maximizing feed truck loads according to required weights and rations.
• Monitor and maintain feed bunks.
• Maintain inventory of feed commodities, medications, implants, vaccines, and related supplies.
• Assist with maintaining cattle pens, including manure removal and adding material as needed to maintain cattle comfort.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment, including greasing, oil changes, checking tire pressure, and replacing tires when needed.
• Safely operate equipment that may include:
  • Feed trucks
  • Wheel loaders
  • Tractors
  • Skid loaders
• Assist with special projects and other operational needs as assigned.
• Prioritize daily responsibilities to ensure the most important animal health and operational needs are addressed first.
• Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, vendors, and others involved with the operation.
• Perform duties safely and follow established safety procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience working with and around livestock preferred.
• Class A CDL preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely work around and handle cattle.
• Ability to operate feedlot and agricultural equipment.
• Ability to maintain accurate animal health, feeding, inventory, and operational records.
• Dependable and able to prioritize daily responsibilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Must be willing to work additional hours when required due to seasonal needs or staffing challenges.

SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time position. Normal scheduling may include Monday through Friday and/or every other weekend, with a weekday off when working the weekend. Additional hours may be required during seasonal periods or staffing needs.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a hands-on livestock position performed both indoors and outdoors. The employee will work around cattle and agricultural equipment and may be exposed to changing weather conditions, dust, fumes, and loud working environments. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive physical tasks. Must be able to lift up to approximately 75 pounds, climb ladders and gates, and safely climb in and out of livestock trailers and agricultural equipment.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

$20-$25/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
