FEEDLOT PEN RIDER
 

ABOUT THE EMPLOYER

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a progressive 7,000-head commercial cattle feeding operation in Nebraska in searching for an experienced Feedlot Pen Rider. This employer is committed to maintaining a professional, respectful work environment and is seeking a dependable individual who takes pride in animal care and wants to build a long-term career in the feedlot industry.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ride assigned cattle pens daily to monitor cattle health, behavior, and overall condition.
• Identify cattle showing signs of illness, injury, stress, or poor performance.
• Pull, sort, and move sick or injured cattle to designated treatment areas.
• Communicate health concerns promptly to the animal health team.
• Assist with moving cattle between pens, shipping, receiving, processing, and weighing cattle as needed.
• Maintain horses and tack in good working condition.
• Assist with general feedlot duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3-5 years of commercial feedlot experience required.
• Previous commercial feedlot pen riding experience required.
• Strong horsemanship skills with the ability to safely handle cattle on horseback.
• Ability to accurately identify cattle requiring treatment.
• Experience sorting and moving cattle using low-stress livestock handling practices.
• Own horses and tack preferred. Employer provides feed, shoeing, and care for up to three personal horses.
• Professional attitude with respect for coworkers.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and dependable attendance.

HOURS

Typical work schedule averages 50-55 hours per week.

COMPENSATION

$60,000-$75,000+ DOE

Employees interested in taking on additional responsibilities may have opportunities to earn additional compensation.
