FEEDLOT ANIMAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN

 

Opportunity Overview

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a progressive 7,000-head commercial cattle feeding operation in Nebraska in searching for an experienced Animal Health Technician. This employer is committed to maintaining a professional, respectful work environment and is seeking a dependable individual who takes pride in cattle health and animal care. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining herd health through proper processing, treatment, and accurate health recordkeeping.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Process incoming cattle according to established protocols.
  • Identify, evaluate, and treat sick or injured cattle.
  • Administer vaccinations, medications, and other treatments following established health protocols.
  • Monitor cattle response to treatments and communicate health concerns to management.
  • Maintain accurate treatment and processing records.
  • Enter and maintain computerized cattle health records.
  • Work closely with pen riders and other feedlot personnel to promote overall cattle health.
  • Maintain treatment equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with general feedlot duties and additional responsibilities as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of commercial feedlot experience required.
  • Previous commercial feedlot animal health experience required.
  • Experience processing and doctoring cattle.
  • Knowledge of cattle health, disease recognition, and treatment protocols.
  • Experience maintaining computerized cattle health records.
  • Experience with AccuTrack or similar cattle health management software preferred.
  • Strong cattle handling skills.
  • Professional attitude with respect for coworkers.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and dependable attendance.

 

Hours

Typical work schedule averages 50-55 hours per week.

 

Compensation

$60,000-$75,000+ DOE, based on a typical 50-55 hour work week.

Employees interested in taking on additional responsibilities may have opportunities to earn additional compensation.
