A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE DIRECTOR, AGRI-BULK CARGO DEVELOPMENT

 

The Director, Agri-Bulk Cargo Development is responsible for building and strengthening relationships across the agricultural export supply chain, including grain exporters, terminals, receivers, and program stakeholders. The role focuses on identifying and securing agri-bulk shipping opportunities, providing market intelligence, and supporting commercial decisions that drive business growth. Success in this position comes from developing long-term customer relationships, generating consistent nomination activity, and navigating changing market conditions within the West Coast export sector.

 

AM I A GOOD FIT FOR THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY?

 

  • Have a minimum of seven years of experience in grain export programs, terminal operations, agri-bulk shipping, traffic management, or related export logistics environments.
  • Possess a strong understanding of grain movements, export programs, nomination processes, vessel scheduling, terminal operations, and FOB/CFR nomination pathways.
  • Have experience providing market intelligence and commercial insights to support business decisions and growth strategies.
  • Are comfortable managing commercial priorities, evaluating risks and opportunities, and adapting to changing market conditions.
  • Work independently, take ownership of results, and thrive in a highly autonomous role.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, accountability, sound business judgment, and a resilient approach to achieving objectives.
  • Are comfortable engaging senior decision-makers and collaborating with stakeholders throughout the agricultural export supply chain.
  • Have post-secondary education in agriculture, business, logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or a related field (considered an asset).
