Job Description

The Summer Agronomy Intern supports the Agronomy team during the growing season by assisting with field scouting, soil and tissue sampling, company test plots, customer service, and wheat harvest activities. This internship provides hands-on experience in agronomy sales while offering exposure to multiple areas of Cooperative Elevator Co. through a structured internship program focused on mentorship, professional development, and cross-department learning Applications are accepted in the fall for the following summer internship.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt, efficient, and professional customer service.
  • Scout fields for crop conditions, weeds, insects, and pests.
  • Collect soil and tissue samples and assist with nutrient analysis.
  • Assist with planting and maintaining company plots and maintaining records.
  • Assist with branded seed trials and side-by-side plots.
  • Shadow agronomists during customer visits and grower calls.
  • Document crop observations using photos, imagery, and digital scouting tools.
  • Assist with plot tours, customer appreciation events, and seed kickoff events.
  • Assist with wheat quality testing during harvest.
  • Attend agronomic training sessions and team meetings.
  • Assist with drone team activities, as assigned.
  • Create agronomy-focused promotional content.
  • Participate in cross-department learning experiences.
  • Complete a capstone project and present it to Cooperative Elevator leadership.

 

Education and Experience

  • College sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing an agriculture-related degree.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed for approved business travel
