Key Responsibilities
As the Territory Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving business growth throughout Alberta while serving as a trusted advisor to retailers, distributors, and growers. You will combine technical agronomic knowledge with consultative sales expertise to expand market presence, strengthen customer relationships, and deliver exceptional value across your territory.

 

Territory Development & Business Growth

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan focused on expanding market share throughout Alberta.
  • Build strong relationships with agricultural retailers, distributors, dealers, and growers to identify new business opportunities.
  • Grow an established portfolio of existing accounts while actively prospecting and developing new customer relationships.
  • Identify emerging market trends and competitive opportunities to support long-term business growth.


Sales & Account Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers within your territory, delivering exceptional service and ongoing support.
  • Develop account plans that strengthen customer partnerships and increase product adoption.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their operational needs and recommend solutions that improve productivity and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, customer activity, and pipeline information using CRM tools.

 

Agronomic & Product Support

  • Provide expert agronomic guidance on product selection, application, and best management practices.
  • Conduct field visits, product demonstrations, and on-farm trials to evaluate performance and communicate results to customers.
  • Deliver technical recommendations supported by field data to help growers achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Stay informed on agronomic trends, crop production practices, and industry developments to provide trusted technical expertise.

 

Relationship Management & Collaboration

  • Build long-term partnerships based on trust, responsiveness, and technical credibility.
  • Collaborate closely with internal sales, marketing, and agronomy teams to support customer success and territory objectives.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, grower meetings, and dealer functions to strengthen brand awareness.
  • Share customer feedback and market intelligence to support product development and strategic planning.

 

Territory Management

  • Plan and manage extensive travel throughout Alberta to maximize customer engagement and business development opportunities.
  • Prioritize activities that balance customer support, new business development, and territory growth.
  • Monitor territory performance against sales objectives and adjust strategies to achieve business goals.

 

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

 

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Agriculture, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
  • Approximately 3–5 years of experience in agricultural sales, territory management, account management, or a related customer-facing role.
  • Experience working with an agricultural manufacturer, dealer, distributor, or ag retailer is highly valued.
  • High-potential candidates with strong sales ability and agricultural knowledge are encouraged to apply.

 

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of consultative sales processes and territory management principles.
  • Knowledge of agronomic practices, crop production, and soil health products is an asset.
  • Experience using CRM platforms and sales management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
