Chris Hoffman has been appointed USDA Rural Development State Director for Pennsylvania, bringing decades of agricultural leadership to support rural economic growth, housing, and infrastructure initiatives.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has announced the appointment of Chris Hoffman as the new State Director for Pennsylvania. In this role, he will oversee programs that support rural communities while advancing priorities related to agriculture, economic growth, housing, and infrastructure development.

USDA Rural Development Deputy Under Secretary Joe Gilson said Hoffman’s extensive experience and leadership in agriculture will help create new opportunities and improve the quality of life for residents across Pennsylvania. He noted that state directors play an important role in connecting USDA resources with rural communities.

Hoffman said he is honored to take on the position and remains committed to advocating for Pennsylvania’s rural areas. He plans to focus on expanding access to affordable housing, strengthening community facilities, supporting local businesses, and improving essential utility services.

Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, praised Hoffman’s appointment. He highlighted Hoffman’s strong connection to Pennsylvania agriculture and his understanding of the needs and challenges facing rural communities.

A first-generation swine and poultry farmer, Hoffman brings more than two decades of agricultural leadership and advocacy experience to the position. He previously served as President of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and was also a member of the American Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

As State Director, Hoffman will lead USDA Rural Development efforts throughout Pennsylvania, working with local stakeholders to support economic development, infrastructure improvements, housing initiatives, and other programs aimed at strengthening rural communities.
