The United Sorghum Checkoff Program (USCP) has appointed Clint White as its new executive director, effective Oct. 1. He succeeds Norma Ritz Johnson, who will remain with the organization through Jan. 12, 2027, to support the leadership transition before retiring.
White joined the Checkoff in 2021 as director of communications, where he led producer outreach, consumer marketing, and industry engagement efforts. During his tenure, he helped strengthen partnerships across the agricultural sector and increased awareness of sorghum among growers, stakeholders, and consumers.
In his new position, White will work closely with the producer-led board, CEO Tim Lust, and USCP staff to advance the organization's strategic goals. His responsibilities will include overseeing investments in crop improvement, market development, and educational programs aimed at creating new opportunities for sorghum producers.
The appointment reflects the organization's focus on continuing research, promotion, and market expansion efforts that support sorghum farmers. White's experience within the Checkoff is expected to help strengthen programs that improve the crop's competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
The organization also recognized the contributions of outgoing executive director Norma Ritz Johnson, whose leadership helped advance the Checkoff's mission and support sorghum growers nationwide. Her continued involvement during the transition period will help ensure stability and continuity.
The National Sorghum Producers (NSP) welcomed White's appointment and thanked Johnson for her service. The group also reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Checkoff to expand demand for sorghum and enhance opportunities for producers.
