Penn Vet Adds Seven New Faculty Members Across Key Fields

Penn Vet has appointed seven new faculty members across veterinary medicine, animal welfare, pathology, diagnostic imaging, infectious disease, and equine reproduction, strengthening its research, education, and animal healthcare programs.

The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) has appointed seven new faculty members to strengthen its programs in veterinary medicine, biomedical research, animal welfare, pathology, reproductive science, and diagnostic imaging. The appointments support Penn Vet's ongoing efforts to expand excellence in education, research, and clinical care.
 

According to Andrew M. Hoffman, Dean of Veterinary Medicine, the new hires bring diverse expertise that will enhance collaboration, innovation, and advancements in animal health. Their backgrounds span clinical practice, scientific research, and academic leadership.
 

Within the Department of Clinical Sciences & Advanced Medicine, Dr. Stefano De Arcangeli joined as assistant professor of Clinical Pathology, specializing in cytopathology, hematopathology, laboratory quality assurance, and diagnostic testing. Dr. Dayoung Oh was appointed assistant professor of Radiation Oncology, contributing expertise in diagnostic imaging, ultrasonography, and veterinary oncology for companion animals.
 

Penn Vet also welcomed Dr. Lauren Powell as assistant professor of Animal Welfare and Behavior. Her research focuses on the connection between human wellbeing and companion animal welfare, including the impacts of pet adoption on both people and animals.
 

Additionally, Dr. Jamie Sebastian joined as assistant professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine. Her work centers on infectious diseases, epidemiology, disease surveillance, and One Health approaches aimed at improving animal and public health.
 

At New Bolton Center, Penn Vet expanded its expertise in large animal reproduction with the appointments of Dr. Soledad Martín-Peláez and Dr. Mariah Pearson. Their specialties include equine reproductive technologies, fertility management, breeding practices, pregnancy care, and reproductive health in horses.
 

The Department of Pathobiology added Dr. Arin Cox as assistant professor of Comparative Pathology. His research interests include cancer biology, infectious diseases, digital pathology, immunohistochemistry, and zoonotic disease investigations.
 

These appointments reflect Penn Vet's commitment to attracting leading veterinarians, researchers, and educators who can advance veterinary education, scientific discovery, and animal healthcare while creating new opportunities for innovation and collaboration.
