North Dakota Soybean Council Welcomes Three New Directors

New board members bring farming expertise to NDSC leadership

The North Dakota Soybean Council added three new directors and reelected one member, strengthening leadership to support soybean growers through research, education, market growth, and checkoff-funded programs.

The North Dakota Soybean Council (NDSC) has added three new directors to its board and announced the reelection of one returning member. The newly elected and reelected representatives officially began their terms on July 1 and will help guide the council’s efforts on behalf of soybean growers across the state.

Andy Haugen of Hannaford was elected to represent District 8, which includes Nelson, Griggs, and Steele counties. Haugen farms with his brother and grows soybeans, corn, barley, and seed crops, bringing extensive production experience to the council.

Kevin Zikmund of Park River was elected to represent District 10, covering Cavalier, Pembina, and Walsh counties. A graduate of North Dakota State University with a degree in agronomy, Zikmund operates a farming business with his brother, producing soybeans, corn, and canola, along with managing a small hog operation.

Andrew Doll of New Salem was elected to serve District 12, representing producers across southwestern North Dakota. After attending South Dakota State University, Doll returned to his family farm, where he works alongside family members raising soybeans, other crops, and cow-calf pairs.

The council also announced the reelection of Ted Brandt of Enderlin, who will continue representing District 2, which includes Ransom and Sargent counties. Brandt grows soybeans, corn, and wheat and remains active in agricultural leadership. In addition to serving on the NDSC board, he is a member of the U.S. Soybean Export Council’s Soy Excellence Center Global Advisory Panel for the 2026-27 term.

With the addition of the new directors and the continuation of experienced leadership, the North Dakota Soybean Council aims to strengthen its support for soybean farmers throughout the state. The board plays a key role in directing soybean checkoff investments, supporting research, market development, education, and initiatives designed to improve profitability and opportunities for North Dakota soybean producers.
