NAMA has named Doug Monson and Laura Rustmann as recipients of its 2026 Professional Development Awards of Excellence, recognizing their leadership, sales success, and contributions to agricultural marketing.

The National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) has announced the recipients of its 2026 Professional Development Awards of Excellence, recognizing outstanding contributions to the agricultural marketing industry. This year's honorees are Doug Monson, Vice President of Agriculture at Forward Minded Media, and Laura Rustmann, Director of Marketing and Sales at J.L. Farmakis, Inc.

Monson received the award for Marketing Communications after playing a key role in expanding Forward Minded Media's agriculture division. Over the past 18 months, he helped grow the agency's presence in the agricultural sector while generating more than $1 million in sales and strengthening relationships with agribusiness clients.

With more than 25 years of experience in journalism, publishing, agricultural communications, and marketing, Monson has built a reputation for developing strategic marketing solutions. He is also actively involved in NAMA, serving on the Student NAMA Committee and participating in the organization's mentoring initiatives.

Rustmann was recognized in the Sales category for her achievements at J.L. Farmakis, Inc. During her nine-year tenure, she has consistently expanded client accounts, secured new business opportunities, and established herself as one of the company's leading sales professionals.

Her efforts have contributed to significant growth in multimedia advertising programs and bundled sales, while her focus on digital marketing has helped expand the company's marketing capabilities. Rustmann also oversees external marketing initiatives that have increased the organization's visibility across the agricultural industry.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Rustmann has been an active NAMA member for more than 15 years through the Gateway Chapter. She has held several leadership roles, including serving on the Fall Conference Planning Committee and leading it as chair in 2024.

NAMA CEO Jennifer Pickett said both recipients exemplify the leadership, talent, and dedication that strengthen the agricultural marketing profession. The awards will be presented during NAMA Nexus, scheduled for October 13-15 in Des Moines, Iowa.

As the nation's largest association for agribusiness and marketing professionals, NAMA continues to promote education, networking, professional development, and recognition of excellence across the agricultural marketing industry.
