Job Description
There comes a point in many surveying careers where technical expertise is no longer the challenge. The question becomes whether there is an opportunity to shape a team, influence a business and leave a lasting mark on the region you work in. If that's the stage you're at, this role could be worth exploring.
This is a newly created position with responsibility for leading and growing the rural offering in Northamptonshire.
Rather than stepping into a role where everything is already mapped out, you'll have the opportunity to influence how the team develops over the coming years. The foundations are in place, but there is genuine scope to help shape its future direction, strengthen its presence in the local market and build lasting relationships across the rural sector.
You'll remain close to the work itself, advising clients on a broad range of rural matters while balancing the leadership and commercial responsibilities that come with heading up a growing team. It is a role that combines people management, business development and professional consultancy in equal measure.
What the Role Involves
As Rural Surveying Lead, you'll sit at the centre of both the team's day-to-day activity and its longer-term ambitions.
Your responsibilities will include:
What We're Looking For
You'll have an established background in rural surveying and a broad understanding of areas such as estates, valuations and rural consultancy.
This role will suit someone who enjoys working with people as much as they enjoy working with clients. Previous experience leading or managing a team will be important, alongside the confidence to develop new business and represent the business within the local market.
Above all, we're looking for someone who sees change as an opportunity and takes pride in building something that will continue to grow long after they've joined.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
Many senior surveying roles focus on maintaining an existing client base and managing an established workload. This opportunity offers something slightly different.
Here, you'll have the chance to influence the direction of a growing rural team, develop those around you and play a visible role in expanding the business across Northamptonshire. For a surveyor who enjoys having a genuine say in how things are done, that level of ownership can be difficult to find.
