Our client, who designs and constructs livestock, hog, and post-frame buildings, is hiring a Concrete Construction Supervisor.

 

The Concrete Construction Supervisor is responsible for enabling the completion of jobs in a timely manner by scheduling and overseeing the work crews, ensuring equipment and materials are enough, repairing and maintaining equipment, training crews, and assisting with special projects as assigned.

 

This position will also be responsible for placing and finishing concrete using a variety of tools and equipment; read blueprints and survey stakes to obtain direction and elevations of slabs and finished surface requirements; safely operate equipment and be aware of surrounding personnel and structures; make sound judgements regarding weather and existing conditions prior to pouring concrete.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way to ensure zero accidents and maintain job budgets.
  • Understand the project plans and specifications.
  • Manage field to minimize overtime and communicate when overtime is required to team.
  • Effectively identify concrete mixes and determine required equipment and procedures required to achieve desired finish and performance results.
  • Determine required safety procedures based on job site conditions and materials encountered.
  • Be able to communicate equipment and manpower needs to meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Verify the completion of the pre-pour and post-pour checklist.
  • Clean equipment as necessary and perform routine maintenance.
  • Safely unload and secure equipment and attachment to transport vehicle.
  • Recruit and train field personnel associated with your team.
  • Complete daily reports to include time spent on the job (employee timecards, weather conditions, sub-contractors working, general daily description that includes activities performed, delays incurred, changes directed by the Client in the field).
  • Verify and approval employee timecard entries from Human Resources daily and weekly reports by noted deadline for payroll.
  • Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
  • Know whereabouts of suppliers and products.
  • Be able to work with operations and mobilization departments on field orders.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, vans, or automobiles and hauls and hoists materials.
  • Ability to operate and drive vehicles under a Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
  • Perform emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses.
  • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles and immediately notify supervisor.
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles.
  • Turn in receipts from deliveries or purchase.
  • Assist in building and positioning forms for pouring concrete and dismantles forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, bolts, or form hardware.
  • Dig ditches and levels earth to grade specifications using pick, shovels, and rakes.
  • Grade dirt and concrete efficiently and accurately.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, and other temporary structures.
  • Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces, such as concrete surfaces for cleaning or finishing, using abrasive tools or machines.
  • Mix concrete and mortar.
  • Care, cleanliness, and organization of form material in shop, truck and at job sites.
  • Keep jobsite, trucks, and equipment clean. Clean construction site to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Cut lumber to specified dimensions, drill holes in lumber and use of laser level.
  • Hold plumb bobs, sighting rods, and other equipment, to aid in establishing reference points and lines.
  • Assist to align, straighten, plumb and square forms for installation.
  • Construct forms, then assist in raising them to the required elevation.
  • Install and tie rebar and wire mesh.
  • Ensure that all unsafe work practices or safety hazards encountered on the job and those reported by field crew members are immediately resolved to OSH and Company compliance standards.
  • May be required to perform tasks from other job descriptions depending on available work and schedules, i.e. wall/foundation, building as form setter, earthwork, etc.

 

DESIRED PROFILE:

  • Previous Construction management experience
  • 5+ years of experience in similar position/industry
  • Strong knowledge of the concrete business
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, time management, organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Must be able to multi-task with the ability to change direction quickly
  • Proficiency with computer operation, including use of Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to travel
