Overview:

Turkey Farmers of Ontario (TFO) is a producer-run and producer-funded organization representing approximately 150 farm families across the province. Our producers are proud to deliver high-quality, healthy turkey products to consumers in Ontario and across Canada. Our board office is located in Kitchener, Ontario.

 

TFO is currently accepting applications for the role of Markets and Policy Analyst. In this role, you will monitor and analyze market trends in the turkey industry as well as other protein sectors, while evaluating policies, regulations, and industry developments that impact Ontario turkey producers. You will work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including TFO's Board of Directors, Ontario turkey producers, government representatives, industry partners, and commodity organizations across Ontario and Canada.

 

The successful candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning. Your work will play an important role in supporting informed decision-making by the TFO Board of Directors and providing timely, relevant market intelligence to Ontario's turkey industry.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Compile data and prepare reports for internal and external audiences, providing analysis on trends within the turkey industry (e.g. pricing, input costs, retail data, consumption).
  • Conduct research and analysis and develop policy recommendations to the TFO Board of Directors and committees.
  • Administer policy decisions of the TFO Board (e.g. pricing, allocations).
  • Respond to requests for data and information from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent TFO at member and industry meetings, acting as an ambassador for the organization and providing subject matter expertise.

 

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in economics, business, agriculture, public policy, or a related field is required. Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience is required. Demonstrated understanding of the agri-food sector is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of supply management and the associated legislative framework is considered an asset.
  • Strong statistical and data management skills.
  • Excellent research and analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills with the ability to synthesize information and research into reports and memorandums relevant to the target audience.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.

Working Environment:

  • This is a full-time (35 hours per week) permanent position reporting to the General Manager. The successful candidate will join a small, dedicated team that is passionate about supporting our producer membership and the Ontario turkey industry.
  • We offer a hybrid work model with two designated in-office days (Wednesday/Thursday) and three work from home days (Monday/Tuesday/Friday) each week.
  • Occasional travel is required for industry meetings.
  • Occasional flexibility in hours may be required.
