Job Description: DescriptionCorteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity to join our Population Development team in Waimea, Hawaii, as a Shadehouse Technician. This role will perform day-to-day tasks in our Shade house operations to meet the quality, quantity, and timeline targets for maize seed delivery. Candidates must be comfortable using computers and mobile devices as well as working both indoors and outdoors. Most importantly, they need a collaborative attitude, excellent communication and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. This role may include supervising contingent workers and serving as a crew lead.

What You will Do:

* Perform all tasks associated with the year-round production of high-quality seed in sufficient quantities, including:

* Plant, transplant, irrigate, scout for insects and diseases, make complex pollinations, harvest, and sort ears.

* Taking notes and collecting data into official systems on time ensuring data quality.

* Prepare and apply crop-protection products.

* Perform all work safely and efficiently in accordance with instructions, protocols, policies, and regulations.

* Help produce and use maps, labels, envelopes, and tags.

* Communicate regularly and openly with the team and supervisors about workflow and experiment status, especially when there are questions or problems.

* Complete routine and moderately complex duties without instruction in a timely manner and apply judgment.

* Participate in protocol development and process improvement programs (safety, efficiency, effectiveness)

* Supervise contingent workers and serve as a crew lead for full-time staff.

* Promote positive work attitudes and harmonious relations.

* Support all Waimea Research Center-wide goals, and initiatives. Interact and assist other projects at the location as needed.

* Willing and able to work at various locations on the west side of Kaua'i, on weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed.

QualificationsWhat Skills You Need:

* High School Diploma/GED required

* Ability to do work independently and problem solve.

* Willing and able to occasionally lift, push, or carry up to 20-50 lbs. of weight.

* Willing and able to complete repetitive motions with wrists and hands, stand, walk for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch, with or without reasonable accommodations.

* Willing and able to serve as a pesticide handler.

* Willing and able to work in warm conditions and in variable environments, including partially enclosed structures.

* Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

* Ability to read and communicate in English and work in a team of diverse cultural backgrounds and languages.

* Basic mathematics.

* Willing and able to work overtime, weekends and holidays when needed.

What Makes You Stand Out:

* Agricultural or horticultural experience.

* Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

* Ability to operate forklift.

* Basic computer literacy for printing or using mobile devices

This positions is required to work in office 5 days a week. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $21.44 - $30.02 hourly. This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
