The Predictive Agriculture group focuses on developing mathematical models of plants and agricultural systems, prediction methods based on statistical learning and mechanistic models, and digital solutions for farmers. We are looking for individuals with a desire to help farmers, expertise in statistical analysis and an aptitude for mathematical modeling and machine learning.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:


The statistician participates in interdisciplinary teams of agriculture scientists, remote sensing specialists and mathematicians to


  • Identify, develop and apply robust statistical methods to analyze large, highly complex linear and non-linear multivariate data sets generated from a series of experiments conducted to enable prediction crop yields at different scales.
  • Undertake research that will lead to the development of novel prediction methods that integrate multiple sources of information to enable predictive agriculture.


Master in statistics, mathematics or related disciplines. PhD will be considered as well.

Independent problem solving from hypothesis generation through results interpretation.

Proficiency in statistical analysis including experimental design, power analysis, and mixed model methodology.

Experience with Bayesian Hierarchical Modeling, modern statistical learning and machine learning.

Familiarity with mathematical modeling and dynamical system is a plus.

Proficiency in both scripting and programming languages such as R, Python, and C.

Outstanding written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
