Corteva Agriscience has an exciting job opportunity for a Research Associate based in Napoleon, Ohio.

The Research Associate will serve as a key member of a high performing yield test program for corn, soybean, and wheat. This individual will provide operational support for the program to ensure the highest quality data is produced from research plots. The position helps complete many tasks needed to develop superior products and knowledge that optimize value for our customers and our company.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in product phenotyping and characterization.
  • Identify and plan yield test locations and map associated experiments for research plots in Ohio and Northeast Indiana in a variety of different agricultural systems. 
  • Operate and maintain agricultural equipment such as tractors, planters, combines, and sprayers. This would include complex computer programs and GPS systems. 
  • Maintain and assess plot quality throughout the growing season to ensure the highest quality data.
  • Collect and review data on agronomic traits for corn, soybean, and wheat.
  • Possess general agronomic knowledge of corn, soybean, and wheat production practices including weed control, disease and insect identification, growth stage assessment, amongst others.
  • Assist in various station activities and assignments throughout the year.
  • Uphold a strong culture for safety by adhering to and implementing local safety standards. 

 

 

Qualifications


Requirements:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • Appropriate agricultural degree with 0-2 years’ experience in agronomy, plant breeding, or related field.
  • Ability to work in a team setting as well as self-motivated to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Express knowledge of agricultural equipment operation and maintenance or ability to learn. Adapt to new technologies that are evolving quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to take charge and lead projects when asked.
  • May be required to do physical lifting up to 50 lbs. in a variety of environments. 
  • Valid driver’s license required. May be asked to pass a DOT physical to haul trailers. 
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends during critical points in the season. Some overnight stay may be required.
  • Ability to obtain FAA Part 107 drone license is preferred.
