Corteva is looking for a North America Maize Breeding Lead.  Building on a foundation of 100 years of corn breeding, the NA Maize Breeding Lead will lead a large team to build the next generation of products for our Corn Seeds Business.


This role will have the opportunity to collaborate broadly and have significant impact on Research & Development and Corteva Success. In addition, they will be a part of the Global Plant Breeding Leadership Team, a high functioning team of global experts working to support and improve our Plant Breeding processes through learning, innovation, and technology.


How will you help us grow? It matters to us, and it matters to you!

  • Responsible for all corn breeding programs in United States and Canada, driving new value to our customers.
  • Partner with other regional crop leads to manage a large network of research stations and staff.
  • Partner with other regional breeding leads to develop a global corn breeding strategy to be implemented at the local level.
  • Drive and implement new breeding tools accelerating genetic gain in our product development programs
  • Partner with commercial, platform, and operations colleagues to deliver products, manage inventory, develop information in support of customer needs.
  • Partner across the Corteva R&D organizations to support the advancement for crop protection, digital, and seed products. 


What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • Ph. D. in Plant Breeding or Genetics with 10 + years industry experience.
  • Proven ability to manage large complex and dynamic teams, building in new strategies and systems while delivering on near term objectives.  A key attribute will be the ability to identify, recruit, and develop new staff. 
  • Strong technical understanding of new technologies and the ability to apply those technologies to improve product development. 
  • Proven strategic thinker who can balance short and long term goals and objectives to deliver the next generation of products for customers globally.
  • Proven ability to work across R&D Corteva groups and crops.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong core values base as a foundation for leadership.
