Corteva Agriscience is seeking a Distinguished DataScientist to join our global Data Science and Informatics team. In this role, youwill be a leader in an interdisciplinary, global work environment. Your strongand extensive background in machine/deep learning, statistical simulations, andsystems optimization will enable you to gain insights from a wide variety ofstructured and unstructured datasets in agriculture. Your experience as adata-driven research advocate in tandem with your relentless drive to executeyour vision will create strategic opportunities that will influence our fundingand project prioritization pipelines. This is a critical position focused onmaking a long-term strategic impact on our business by driving innovationwithin the data science competency.


The Data Science group is charged with bringing data-drivenpredictions and prescriptions to all aspects of our seed, chemical, and digitalbusiness segments. To achieve this, we have developed petabyte-scale datasetsfrom a variety of sources which include farmingmanagement practices, equipment tracking, UAV, satellite, weather, soils,imagery, sequencing/gene-expression data and IoT streams. In combination withyour data science and business acumen, you will bring a boldscientific and technical vision to our portfolio of data science projects. Youwill advise and mentor our team of scientists on best practices, methods, andresearch direction to produce positive research outcomes on problems ranging fromsmall to big data, simple to complex models, and month-long to decade-longresearch efforts. You will identify key collaborations and skills, then developpartnerships and strategies to efficiently execute your vision.


Outside of the group, you will serve as a trustedscientific ambassador, providing support and thought leadership to internal andexternal collaborators and partners to help them understand and appreciate thevalue and expertise that data science and artificial intelligence brings totheir needs. This will require superb interpersonal communication skills and apenchant for building and leveraging professional networks both within andoutside the company.

Inthis role, you will:

       Leverage your deep experience to define andexecute your vision for data science strategy across our portfolio of projects,research partners, and collaborators

       Define and execute an R&D strategy for alldata science approaches to improve decisions, add value to services, extend orimprove in-house models and algorithms, and contribute to the advancement ofthese ideas into the marketplace

       Serveas an experienced resource and coach for members of the data science group at avariety of experience levels, for prototyping, experiment design, analysis, andpresentation of results

       Helprecruit top talent, develop new capabilities, and forge collaborations betweenscientists and engineers to execute on novel analytical approaches on a widevariety of digital agriculture problems

       Lead the development, prototyping, andimplementation of data pipelines and software solutions in partnership with engineeringand production teams

       Collaborate with scientists from multipledomains in solution/experiment design and analysis

       RepresentCorteva Agrisciences global data science capabilities with our partners and inthe scientific community


Qualifications


Desired Qualifications:

        Advanced degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant, post-graduate work experience in a fast paced, product-oriented environment

  • Experience in strategy development and strategic leadership in R&D and/or business environments
  • Interest in plant sciences, agriculture, and farming is a must; experience in these fields is a plus.

        Comprehensive understanding of computational learning theory, information theory, applied statistics, and machine learning

        Expert programming skills in at least one general purpose programming language

        Deep experience with ML/DL and AI architectures for pattern recognition, object detection, anomaly detection, regression, causal network analysis, unsupervised learning, natural language processing and/or sequence/gene-expression analysis

        Expertise in numerical methods, mathematical modeling and combinatorial optimization techniques in combination with machine learning methods for gaining model insights.
