Cargill is seeking a veterinarian with knowledge/expertise in poultry (turkey) medicine to provide the Veterinary services for its Cargill Turkey Production, LLC operation.
55%Management of Disease monitoring, intervention and prevention and welfare on breeder & commercial turkey farms. Active participation in management decision making & employee education is expected. Some involvement with other complexes or business units may occur from time to time.
25%Participate in the Technical Team to develop & implement special programs (Food Safety, Welfare)
10%Participation in Technical Team to select and test new products
5%Education for staff, new hires and contract growers
5% Represent Cargill's interests at government and industry meetings

Skills: Required Qualifications
DVM from accredited University Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the US Thorough understanding of poultry industry (live production, hatchery, breeding & processing) Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with diverse individuals Must be available as needed, at nights, holidays and on weekends when things occur. Someone needs to be willing to be accessible, answer their phones, emails, and work with folks when heightened situations occur. Must be willing to travel as needed, and relocate when necessary.
Post graduate poultry training American College of Poultry Medicine Board Certification or willingness to pursue USDA accreditation Active participation in AAAP/AVTP Poultry production experience PAACO certification Existing relationships with industry & governmental agencies (USDA, NPIP) Competent with Microsoft Office as well as the ability to learn specialty software
