The Dairy Nutrition Specialist will be a member of the CPN US Dairy Team and be responsible for providing technical support to account managers and customers; produce technical writings on dairy nutrition products and industry information; contribute to custom formulation requests and review; keep current with nutritional science and dairy management technologies, applications, and approaches; maintain and update the FRB/AAMPS ration balancing system; and provide training to customers and new employees in technical nutrition and ration balancing software. This position will develop new nutritional technologies and best practices for our customers, in conjunction with others on the CPN US Dairy Team, the CAN Global research and development team, and external collaborators.
50% Provide technical support via various means of communication i.e. text, phone, email, in-person and web for customers and field personnel. Assist in formulating nutritional products and programs for sale to customers and producers to meet their unique or complex nutritional requirements. Contribute to internal formulation support and review.
20% Contribute to Innovation/NPSS. May lead individual innovation projects. Collaborate with internal and external scientists on research studies. Contribute to cross-business development projects. Build relationships with key scientific and industry leaders. Keep abreast of the latest scientific and management discoveries in the industry and builds expertise relative to the customer base served.
15% Maintain and update Feed Ration Balancer (FRB) and the Amino Acid and Metabolizable Protein System (AAMPS) for both internal and external users. Develop digital technology tools and applications for dairy nutrition and management. 10% Create internal and external communications including but not limited to newsletters, technical reports, marketing materials, research reports, and scientific publications.
5% Other duties as needed.
Skills: This position could be located in the Brookville, OH location or a Remote United States location could be considered.
•M.S. Degree in animal nutrition or related field •4 or more years professional experience in research, dairy nutrition, customer support or other dairy industry experience •Proven ability to utilize critical thinking to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems •Understanding of the principles of ration balancing •Demonstrated understanding of dairy customers businesses, needs, and industry •Strong oral and written communication skills •Travel 20%
•Ph.D. in related field to animal nutrition or D.V.M. •5 or more years of dairy experience •Demonstrated understanding of the dairy and feed industries •Experience in leading innovation development and deployment projects •Experience with CPN go-to-market approach and products •Demonstrates the behaviors of the Cargill Leadership Model
