Senior Scientist 




The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Scientist, are to: 


  • Design, develop, implement and execute technical strategy required for pipeline and operations improvements aligned with the overarching strategy within region;
  • Support/Lead key projects on implementation of Precision Breeding Technical innovations within region;
  • Integrate multi-function teams across North America and partners across other world regions (LATAM, EMEA and APAC) to support innovation projects for Precision Breeding, with a key focus on driving genetic gain and product performance through digital transformation and new technology development and deployment;
  • Lead the design of plant biology innovations and solve critical challenges in the areas of advanced pollination methods and seed production;
  • Provide agronomic support to seed production teams in protected culture and field;
  • Research novel solutions to control pests, diseases, nutrition and irrigation impacting seed production;
  • Organize, document, and report research outcomes in a timely manner;
  • Partner with patent science to capture IP and secure FTO for novel concepts;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to develop new concepts, and implement research outcomes across global regions and/or multiple crops;
  • Provide project leadership and accountable to share technical expertise through matrix relationships;
  • Make progress towards key project milestones while communicating timely status updates and any challenges or revisions to planned next steps;
  • Actively troubleshoot and problem-solve to optimize research procedures; Support the Health Safety and Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies and culture;
  • Inter-island travel required up to 25%;
  • Be able to limited travel to regional sites, business meetings, and external conferences to develop business relationships and understanding of leading-edge technologies;
  • Position entails driving a company vehicle (pooled or assigned to the individual). This may include being required to drive greater than 5,000 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle OR being expected to frequently drive a pooled car as part of your job duties – regardless of mileage.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience in Agricultural Science, Pathology, Genetics, Crop Science, or Product Management or Master’s degree with at least eight years of experience or Ph.D. with at least four years of experience;
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals;
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities, facilitates solutions;
  • Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;
  • Familiarity with and a demonstrated ability to perform data analysis with large datasets;
  • Experience with automated phenotyping/remote sensing and the interpretation of imaging data;
  • Valid Driver’s License: Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed and must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers.
