Senior Area Sales Manager: Environmental Science- LA/MO/OK/AR


As an Area Sales Manager for our Environmental Science team, you will create demand at end user level and manage sales to the distribution network in the geographical area of Louisiana, Missouri, Eastern Oklahoma and Arkansas. You will support the sales force of the distribution partners and/or Bayers temporary sales team to drive the consumption of our products in the area described.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Area Sales Manager, are to:

  • Build & Maintain relationship with the distribution network in the area of Louisiana, Missouri, Eastern Oklahoma and Arkansas;

  • Provide and implement distribution account management tools, forecasting systems, inventory reporting and trade marketing plans to key distribution partners;

  • Provide monthly distribution forecasts;

  • Drive the external sales force (e.g. agents/distributor reps) to create value for Bayer range of product, create and monitor KPI to focus efforts on Bayers priorities;

  • Manage time and focus across multiple market segments (utility, bare-ground, noxious/invasive, roadside, forestry, range and pasture) potentially with different associated channel partners and applicators;

  • Create and present the product line review to the customers and end users in the area;

  • Provide the high level of technical product training and support to the key customers and end users technical directors and managers;

  • Implement the national & regional sales policies;

  • Create demand at the end user level. Analyze end user area sales monthly and propose market share development plans to management on a quarterly basis;

  • Report market evolution and competitor activities monthly;

  • Manage customer complaints and inquiries within area with support from regional stewardship managers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree;

  • 10 + years relevant industry experience;

  • Excellent presentation and selling skills, including use of support software;

  • High capacity to define priorities and to manage time resources;

  • Excellent technical (chemistry product) knowledge;

  • Strong knowledge of the category management principles;

  • Ability to manage execution of all channel programs and marketing concepts;

  • Precise and concise reporting;

  • Willingness to do overnight travel 100+ nights/year;

  • Ability to pass driving record background check (i.e. moving violations, accidents, License suspension, etc.);

  • Federal regulations from the Department of Transportation cover this position and mandate the passing of certain pre-employment requirements, such as a background check, drug test and physical.
