Seed Technology Scientist 




The primary responsibilities of this role, Seed Technology Scientist, are to: 


  • Lead NAM seed technology projects in close coordination with the Global Seed Tech team;
  • Conduct Seed Technology trials in the laboratory or factory that increase seed quality, reduce cost, and minimize waste;
  • Analyze and summarize results in written and verbal reports for different audiences (e.g. Seed Technology and stakeholders), issuing seed technology recommendations and ensuring the MEX teams involvement;
  • Manage project portfolio and prioritization process for NAM Seed Tech in coordination with Global Seed Tech;
  • Provide technical knowledge for NAM Seed Tech strategy development;
  • Conduct research to act on NAM Seed Tech strategy;
  • Coordinate implementation with Oxnard and PNW operations teams;
  • Coordinate trialing and benchmarking with third party seed tech companies;
  • Coordinate benchmarking and new technology trials with Market Development teams;
  • Assess seed tech opportunities for seed production;
  • Make synergy with Production Research on seed production optimization;
  • Make use of company IT systems to document results and ensuring future FTO;
  • Participate actively in the Bayer HSE Program;
  • Work with the Bayer networks to enhance performance through sharing and implementation of best practices.

Required Qualifications:


  • B.S. with at least eight years of experience or M.Sc. in Agricultural Science, Agronomy or Biology field with at least five years of experience or Ph.D. with at least three years of experience;
  • Excellent people and organizational skills;
  • Capacity to work with people from different departments to build high morale and group commitments to achieve goals and project objectives jointly;
  • Excellent communication oral, written, under diverse circumstances and audiences;
  • Strategic thinking, taking initiative and exhibiting foresight;
  • Results driven and capacity to influence within a matrixed organization and across functions;
  • Strong ability to navigate in a multicultural environment;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, manage a project portfolio and align and update stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Specific experience on seed physiology or seed technology.
