Seed Technician III 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Seed Technician, are to: 

 

  • Ensure the production and equipment operation process happens safely effectively and with quality in alignment with general procedures of the work area;
  • Obtain and maintain AASCO and in some cases ISTA certifications;
  • Exhibit understanding of internal procedures/protocols and support compliance with legal requirements applicable to assigned area activities;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to Bayer's Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards;
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections; troubleshooting problems associated with equipment, processes, and systems as needed;
  • Work with and support leadership's effort to continuously improve Bayer process and consistently establish the highest standards in the industry for safety, seed quality, cost efficiencies and supply reliability;
  • Perform intermediate computer/Microsoft Suite program skills;
  • Mentor new employees;
  • Have positive attitude, team player and willingness to collaborate across all departments and business units;
  • Execute advanced activities in Bayer systems (SAP and electronic networks), commonly used in production processes;
  • Be able to observe abnormalities, know who to contact, understand the issue and potential consequences;
  • Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of continuous improvement practices and programs (5S, Lean, Six Sigma) conducive to an organized and clean work environment;
  • Utilize 1PSS techniques to initiate process and standard work improvements;
  • Have flexibility to work in sub-departments;
  • Ensure safe work environment;
  • Manage QMS documents and work instructions are followed in accordance with international accrediting agency;
  • Demonstrate a positive image of company position in regard to seeds processing;
  • Be able to communicate with other entities (English language, speak and write);
  • Participate and prepare to lead Daily Direction Settings (DDS) meetings as needed;
  • Be able to observe abnormalities and make a first assessment of potential consequences;
  • Coach new and temporary employees;
  • Support of project related to system /process enhancements;
  • Contribute to projects with close direction.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required Bachelor's degree or 5+ years in Manufacturing and/or Agricultural operations experience;
  • Basic skills using Microsoft Office Suite ( Excel, Power Point, Outlook etc.);
  • Ability to operating a forklift;
  • Ability to observe abnormalities and make a first assessment of potential consequences;
  • Coaching of new and temporary employees;
  • Support of project related to system /process enhancements;
  • Contribute to projects with close direction.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Technical, Associates or Bachelors degree;
  •  Mechanical abilities (able to operate and troubleshoot equipment);
  • Prior agricultural experience;
  • Three years of experience in a rotating-shift manufacturing environment.
