YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Open Field Digital and Land Allocation, are to: 

 

  • Provide support, technical assistance, training and continuing education to field teams on precision technology pipeline and potential application in seed production operations;
  • Develop introductory and advanced operator training as well as regular competency checks;
  • Be able to adapt unique and innovative technology solutions designed to improve crop planting design and operations success using new tools and methodologies to improve overall parent seed production;
  • Take initiative of new technologies to increase capacity, speed up current processes, and deploy novel technologies in data collection;
  • Influence team in the conception, design, testing and deployment of field sensing systems to support field operations that constantly improve precision and accuracy in production activities;
  • Have the capability to adapt and use geospatial systems, agronomic planting tools, and data capture applications for production area;
  • Identify, develop and implement short and long-term land allocation and nursery placement model in alignment with capacity vs demand knowledge;
  • Ensure land allocation following regulatory guidelines and in compliance with applicable local, state, or federal requirements;
  • Demonstrate knowledge and adherence to Bayer’s Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards;
  • Position entails driving a company vehicle (pooled or assigned to the individual). This may include being required to drive greater than 5,000 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle OR being expected to frequently drive a pooled car as part of your job duties – regardless of mileage.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum education of a Bachelor’s degree;
  • At least two years of experience with using geospatial systems and/or agronomic planting tools and/ or data capture applications;
  • Proficiency in usage of Information Technology (IT) tools, advance handling of Microsoft Office;
  • Fluent on Spanish and English language, written and conversational;
  • Availability of working long days and rotating shifts;
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision applying common;
  • Demonstrate ability to take data driven decisions;
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team-based environment;
  • Valid driver’s license: Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed and must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers;
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs;
  • Have or have the ability to obtain a FAA UAV license within 6 mos. from start date;

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Preferred area of study in Agricultural Sciences, Breeding, Computer Science, Statistics, Biology or related fields;
  • Prior agriculture experience.
