Head of Genetic & Genomic Innovation Development 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Head of Genetic and Genomic Innovation Development, are to: 

 

  • Lead the development of short, medium and long-term strategies and scientific plans for genome editing and related areas of genomic research to transform the global row crops seeds pipeline;
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive intellectual property strategy for scientific and operational areas related to genome editing;
  • Lead the development, with other teams in breeding, of plans for resources (including people, Information Technology (IT), infrastructure) needed to support the genome editing strategy;
  • Partner with OISP(Open Innovation and Strategic Partnerships) and Biotechnology teams to identify opportunities for external partnerships and collaborations to develop key capabilities for genome editing;
  • Partner with vegetable research and development (R&D) and Biotechnology teams to build cross functional opportunities for genome editing;
  • Partner with other functions working on genetic evaluation, genome design, precision breeding, genomics, and data science to ensure collaborative development of complementary tools and techniques;
  • Key contributor to product design strategies across crops and technologies;
  • Ensure employee development, including growth opportunities for key high potential individuals and senior scientists, strong succession, change management and talent planning efforts to prepare for future transformation within the function and workforce;
  • Lead and contribute to other global breeding strategies and Long Range Planning (LRP);
  • Ensure that these goals and deliverables are aligned with high level functional goals and commercial goals.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • PhD degree in Population or Evolutionary Genetics , Genomics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a related field with at least 10 years of technology leadership;
  • At least five years of experience in leading teams with demonstrated leadership effectiveness in driving technical strategy, innovation and developing people;
  • Strong knowledge of advanced breeding technologies, advanced analytics and information technologies, genetic evaluations, genomics and/or quantitative genetics with a proven track record of driving innovation;
  • Strong ability in collaborating and building cross-functional partnerships to solve business or technical problem.
