Graduate Scholar Quantitative Genetics 




The primary responsibilities of this role, Graduate Scholar Quantitative Genetics, are to: 


  • Develop analytical methods to predict ideal recombination events among diverse maize inbreeds;
  • Develop new breeding methodologies to target recombination and stack multiple recombination events;
  • Design field experiments to determine the genetic gain provided by the above methodologies;
  • Develop new statistical methods to detect the breeding value of novel haplotypes;
  • Develop validation experiments and introgression plans for valuable novel haplotypes;
  • Provide written reports of results and methods and present results to team members in Breeding.




Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values.  More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:


Required Qualifications:


  • Ph.D. in a relevant field, including Genetics, Statistical and Quantitative Genetics, Data Science, Computational Biology, and Statistics;
  • Expertise in Statistics and Probability;
  • Expertise coding in Python, R, or other language commonly used in Data Science/Statistics;
  • Demonstrated proficiency designing experiments and analyzing their results;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multicultural research team.


The employment type for this role is limited and has a duration not to exceed 36 months.

Position may be based in Chesterfield, MO (St. Louis area).
