Corn Product Development Senior Scientist 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Corn Product Development Senior Scientist, are to:

  • Design, develop, implement, and execute technical strategy required for product development (from 1st year of yield trial testing to Commercialization) aligned with product concepts and portfolio needs to deliver genetic gain in the short and long term for breeding pipelines;
  • Interact with partners in Field Testing and Operations, Analytics and Pipeline Design, Product Design, Market Development and Regional Marketing to assure implementation of technical strategy for developing new commercial products;
  • Support global pipelines for product development in specified maturity zones;
  • Support new product launches with our national and regional brands as well as Market Development;
  • Support key projects on implementation of Precision Breeding technical innovations in product development in the region;
  • Integrate and lead multi-functional teams across home region and partners across other world regions to support innovation projects for Precision Breeding, with a key focus on driving genetic gain and product performance through digital transformation and new technology development and deployment;
  • Support the Health Safety and Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies and culture at the site;
  • Ensure the success of Breeding employees, pipelines, and operations by facilitating or leading technical expertise on projects to develop and optimize plant biology solutions and innovations for row crop breeding in alignment with Precision Breeding strategies that add value for the business;
  • Build and maintain relationships around the world to support and enhance the global landscape of plant biology technologies.

Required qualifications:

  • Ph.D. with 4 or more years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with 8 or more years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree with 10 or more years of relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and multi-cultural teams to achieve common goals;
  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities by facilitating solutions;
  • Experience with automated phenotyping/remote sensing and the interpretation of imaging data;
  • Experience in analysis of large biological data sets, statistical genetics, and coding experience in R, Python or similar software;
  • Track record of driving results and innovation focused on solving business problems;
  • Customer-centricity, with proven record of identifying customer needs, prioritizing resources, and bringing timely and sustainable solutions;
  • Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;
  • Ability to travel independently domestically and internationally during peak seasons.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Agricultural Science, Pathology, Genetics, Crop Science, or Product Management.

 

Domestic relocation may be available for this role.

Sponsorship may be available for this role.

Position may be based in Chesterfield, MO (St. Louis area) or other approved Bayer site in Iowa or Illinois.

Position may include opportunity to work remotely 40-50%.
