Senior Scientist (1900181)- San Diego, CA Where the ChemistryHappens This position is beingcreated to strengthen the BASF Enzymes Research Team in San Diego. The team isan integral part of BASF's global Bioscience Research Platform. The team worksclosely with other research teams, development teams and business units of BASF,inside and outside the US. In addition, the teammaintains and supports numerous collaborations with non-BASF partners, including universities and other research organizations. You will be expected to be partof BASF's global enzyme R&D team and work specifically on Bacillusexpression platform as a self-starter who is able to work well on your own andas part of a multi-disciplinary team. We are searching for a professionallike you to play a key role in the planning design and execution of researchactivities and experiments to accomplish project objectives. You will be reliedupon to provide knowledge and expertise in achieving research targets,interpreting results, and reporting them to key stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate yourstrong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communicationskills. You will also showcase yourability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-pacedenvironment (both independently and in a team setting).Formula for Success
Use your Ph.D. Degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or related fields with minimum 3 years of Bacillus expression experience, or MS degree with minimum 6 years of Bacillus expression experience or BS degree with minimum 12 years of Bacillus host expression experience to develop Bacillus expression technology.
Using your extensive know-how and experience, you will handle protein expression and production.
Applying your technical expertise (preferably in Bacillus host engineering, fermentation and scale up), you will handle cloning, genetic engineering and protein production tasks.
Experience with automation or automated liquid handling a plus
Your strong understanding and experience with biochemistry and enzyme analytical techniques, including but not limited to enzyme assay, ELISA and protein quantification, will serve you well in your research.
Serving as a role model, you will champion a Zero Incident mindset while maintaining a safe working environment.
Successfully engaging across and outside the organization, you will interact frequently with colleagues as well as with customers, suppliers, consultants, universities, and government agencies, and play a leadership role in industry conferences and technical societies.
