Quality Assurance Technician I - Wyandotte, Michigan -1900527

 

This position functions as support for UrethanesProducts. The potential exists for multiple internal and external customerinteractions to assist in the efficient coordination of nonconformancereporting, internal and external audits and document management. In addition toproviding administrative and technical support, this position exists as asupport resource for the Quality Management Systems, providing floor levelstandardization of Quality processes across all shifts, including directinstruction via presentations into the organization.

 

This position reports to the TPU Quality AssuranceManager. The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for quality assurancetesting of raw materials, intermediates, and finished product streams forUrethanes by conducting analytical testing in support of a 24/7 ISO 9001:2015manufacturing operation. Evaluation of analytical data testing is based on bothinternal and external specifications.

 

Our Quality Assurance Technicians will be expected to:

  •        Evaluate incoming Raw Materials
  •        Interact with the Operations Team to expedite shipment tocustomers utilizing SAP
  •        Perform key tests include the safe, accurate and timelymeasurement of viscosity, bulk density, particle determination.
  •        Perform Injection Molding, Physical Testing and Wet Chemistry ofTPU products.
  •        Utilize analytical methodology and an insight into problem solvingon a daily basis.
  •        Follow both written and verbal instructions, as well as allapplicable safety procedures including wearing correct personal protectiveequipment.
  •        Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills
  •        Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in ateam environment and interact with management and employees within theorganization.
  •        On occasion, will lift up to 49 lbs. 
  • Our TPU Plant Employees work a 12-hourrotating swing shift schedule with scheduled overtime as required.  

     

    Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You...

     

    Basic Qualifications:

  •  High School Diploma or GED
  •  A minimum of 2 years laboratory experience operating variouscontrolled lab equipment and instruments (college laboratory experience isacceptable)
  •  A minimum of 1 year experience with Microsoft Office (Word,PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or related Technical Degree
  • 1-year experience performing a variety of methods utilizing bothwet chemical and physical testing methods and performing instrumentvalidations.
  • Experience running Viscometers, spectrophotometers, and other wetchemistry instruments.
  • 1-year experience working with Standard Operation Procedures (SOP)and Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Experience with Plastic Injection Molding equipment
  • Experience with small scale laboratory extruder
  • Experience with physical testing equipment such as MFI,tensile/compression testing, hardness and thickness testing, balances andtitration experience.
  • Knowledge of SPC and ISO 9001:2015
  • Experience with SAP.
