Exempt level position

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day execution of warehouse operations at our primary manufacturing plant in Erlanger, KY, including receiving, storage, inventory management, material movements, shipping activities, and personnel leadership. This position ensures safe, efficient, and compliant warehouse operations while supporting production and customer service requirements.

The Warehouse Superintendent provides direct leadership to warehouse supervisors, leads, and hourly team members. The role focuses on operational execution, inventory accuracy, continuous improvement, employee development, and adherence to safety, quality, and food safety standards. Working closely with Production, Planning, Customer Service, Transportation, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, this position helps ensure uninterrupted material flow and excellent customer service.

Job Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations
  • Direct and coordinate daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, storage, inventory management, picking, staging, shipping, and material movement.
  • Ensure warehouse resources are appropriately allocated to support business needs and customer requirements.
  • Monitor workflow to maximize labor efficiency, productivity, and service levels.
  • Support uninterrupted production through timely delivery of materials and inventory availability.
  • Maintain organized warehouse storage practices and maximize space utilization.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead warehouse safety initiatives, audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns while implementing preventive actions.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards throughout warehouse operations.
Inventory Management
  • Drive inventory accuracy through daily scanning discipline, auditing, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor inventory transactions to ensure proper system and physical inventory alignment.
  • Support inventory reconciliation activities and annual physical inventories.
  • Ensure accurate material movements within AS400 and warehouse management systems.
Leadership & People Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse supervisors, leads, and hourly employees.
  • Establish performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Identify training needs and support employee development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Support staffing, scheduling, hiring, onboarding, and disciplinary activities as needed.
Performance Management
  • Track and manage warehouse operational KPIs, including:
    • Safety performance
    • Inventory accuracy
    • Shipping accuracy
    • Receiving performance
    • Labor productivity
    • Order fulfillment
    • On-time shipment performance
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Cross-Functional Support
  • Partner with Production, Planning, Procurement, Customer Service, Transportation, and Quality teams to support business objectives.
  • Escalate operational risks and capacity constraints to the Warehouse Operations Manager.
  • Assist with implementation of new processes, systems, and warehouse technologies.
  • Support network initiatives and special projects assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Prepare operational reports and performance summaries.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
  • Support budget adherence through effective resource management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
  • 3-7 years of warehouse, logistics, or supply chain experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment.
  • Experience leading hourly employees in a fast-paced operation.
  • Experience with inventory management and warehouse processes.
  • Technology: SAP experience preferred, experience with WMS, proficient in Microsoft office suite.
  • Leadership Competencies: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate teams and strong communication/interpersonal skills.
