Quality and Food Safety Campus Manager - Sabetha, KS

This is an exempt level position.

Main function:

The QFS Manager is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the Quality and Food Safety Management System requirements throughout the manufacturing process to ensure execution and compliance with company policies / processes, regulatory requirements, cGMP, and Industry standards.

Applications of strong quality and food safety technical skills and problem solving / organizational skills, and people management will be practiced daily. This position will offer direction to production in making quality decisions, investigating non-conforming product and providing leadership during process upsets. This position reports to the Campus Manager.

Description of work performed:
  • Will lead and be accountable for all Quality and Food Safety systems and performances for facility and supportive warehouses. Owns site GFSI and PRP programs
  • Lead a team to maintain Quality and Food Safety Management System requirements throughout the manufacturing and supply chain process to ensure execution and compliance with company policies / processes, regulatory requirements, cGMP, GFSI, and other Industry standards
  • Collaboration and leadership with cross-functional teams such as operations, customer quality, commercial, regulatory, and CD&D to ensure quality and good safety processes and programs are met
  • Owns facility Food Safety Plans, Food Defense plans, and Risk/hazard assessments
  • Responsible for ensuring continually accurate and meets defined requirements and intent of code
  • Ensure the processes and preventive controls are being addressed
  • Ensure effective monitoring and communication of performance metrics as well as local metrics to improve areas of focus
  • Drive continuous improvement activities
  • Responsible to be point of contact for all customer, regulatory, and certification audits as well as follow-up and corrective action completion/verification of effectiveness
  • Provides oversight and support for all Significant Quality Events and critical CAPA's
  • Ensures all quality and food safety process and preventative controls are followed and effective for the facility
  • Routine presence in production facility to demonstrate leadership and support. Will perform internal audits, management review, verification activities, and CAPA reviews, etc. as needed
  • Ensure site personnel are trained
Requirements:
  • BS degree in Feed Science or related experience AND/OR 5+ years in quality experience in feed/food5+ years' experience in managing quality control, quality assurance, and food safety in a food processing environment
  • Experience in facility with FSSC 22000 certification
  • Trained in Preventive Controls for Animal Food
  • HACCP/ HARPC/GFSI/PCQI trained
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead, coach, build consensus and lead change among a team of production/sales/quality colleagues
  • Strong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis skills
