This is a Full Time Exempt Position

Job Summary

ADM markets millions of tons of feedstuff that are co-products of grain processing including corn protein feed, DDGS, germ meal and corn gluten meal. This position is responsible for growing our bulk export business to major overseas markets, developing trading and hedging strategies and maintaining a highly cost effective supply chain. This position is also responsible for expanding our collaboration with the container export group. The applicant must have a flexible communication style that lends itself to interactions with internal and external customers, the plants and third party trading partners - as well as internal interactions with other commercial groups, senior leaders, adjacent businesses, and economists. Main Functions:
  • This position will be responsible for developing and executing our bulk export trading strategy for all co-products into destination markets in the EMEA, Asia/SE Asian and New Zealand/Australia region.
  • This person will be responsible for the management of domestic destination positions, inventories, execution, accounting, and profitability.
  • This person will be responsible for identifying and executing hedging strategies for our domestic DDG trading activities as well as for the Global Trade group.
  • This position will include domestic barge trading.
  • This position will include domestic truck and rail origination to support our DDG export program.
  • This position includes selling barges of CPM and CPFP to existing and developing new customers.
  • This person will work in a team environment within the corn co-products group, while also interacting with other divisions on a daily basis.
  • This position is responsible to expand the group's intra-company business with the container group.
  • This person will continue to expand our market share and margins into the bulk export market which is a key strategic market for our dry mills (ethanol plants) and wet wills
  • This position entails working in a fast-paced environment while multi-tasking, along with the ability to make quick decisions and the desire to grow responsibilities within the group.
Position Description:
  • Strategically seeks out new business that would profitably enhance company assets
  • Builds & maintains relationships with a wide range of customers, including premium and volume accounts
  • Understands customer requirements in order to collaborate and add value to both companies
  • Maintains a clear customer account list and provides detailed background information in files
  • Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service
  • Ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics
  • Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities
  • Develops a clear understanding of local, national, world markets & trends
  • Price discovery and bid/offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing
  • Understanding of margin calculations & their effect on commodity pricing
  • Understands the value of ADM owned transportation (i.e. barges, trucks and railcars) & how to enhance value
  • Understands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies & safety systems & programs
  • Ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals
  • Constantly works on individual personal development within the company
  • Develops good understanding of local plant operations
  • Works to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions & responsibilities
  • Effectively use communication channels for proper coordination within the office & other locations
  • Portrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers & colleagues
  • Prepares and submits daily & ad hoc reports
  • Helps in the development & training of new employee
  • Is willing to work outside normal business hours including weekends
  • Must be flexible communicator with strong verbal and written skills
  • Must have intellectual curiosity to understand end user applications in order to uncover our products' functional value as well as its nutritional value
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting), supplemented with a minimum of Five (5) years experience in the marketing of commodities and related food, feed and/or fuel products in North America.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment.
  • Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the domestic trade.
  • Proven ability to manage effectively within a team based work environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers.
  • Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database, word processing software, and applications within a windows based environment. Individual must be committed to corporate ethics policies and safety programs
  • This position will require some travel, domestic and international.
