Data Analyst - Decatur, IL

Position Summary:

The Reporting and Data Specialist is responsible for building, maintaining, enhancing and leveraging data, information and reporting systems for the Decatur East Plant. This role is a critical partner and stakeholder in ensuing the integrity of the site process, production and quality information, and delivers value by fostering clear and confident direction and data-based decision making. This role partners closely with the operations, RCM and improvement groups, along with BU accounting and finance to drive quality, cleanliness and clarity in all East Plant reporting products.

Job Responsibilities:
  • OSI PI Subject matter expert and super-user for site
  • Ownership of all PI reporter content. Upgrade and maintain existing content and
  • Align production reports. Engineer out redundancy and inefficiency in production reporting workflow. Automate production reporting where possible.
  • Construct and maintain PI asset framework hierarchy.
  • Ownership of PI Vision Dashboards. Align and streamline to reduce redundancy and obsolescence.
  • Utility reporting. Daily and monthly process analysis and allocation tie-out
  • Align with operations and improvement team on yield reporting. Long term goal of rebuilding yield file, in partnership with accounting, operations, and engineering.
  • Support Improvement team along with plant leadership to implement and track performance metrics to maintain or improve the effectiveness of operating assets.
  • Parter and support with quality, maintenance and EHS teams to optimize and streamline data and reporting products.
  • Partner with and provide local support for initiatives such as digital SMS, digital value stream mapping, advanced analytics, business intelligence, QMS systems and industrial transformation and modernization
Job Requirements:
  • BS degree required in engineering, computer science, IT or equivalent
  • 5+ years in process operations with preferred exposure to engineering, project and operations management, or, 5+ years in IT management systems and data processing and architecture systems coupled with strong process operations acumen
  • Operations experience is preferred.
  • Dedication to working safely and to the awareness for the safety of others.
  • Excellent communication and people skills for working with plant personnel and regional management.
  • Willingness to spend time in plant areas - tolerate extreme temperatures, walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders and move through close spaces.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently while traveling to remote plant locations.

  • Demonstrated problem solving, diagnostic and analytical skills, with a result focused approach.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Team player with a propensity for collaboration
  • Working knowledge of data and analytics architecture, data warehousing concepts, and data integration best practices is helpful.
  • Awareness-level or better competency in several to all of the following platforms and systems: SQL, C#, ASP.NET MVC, Javascript, Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, Web development, Visual Studio, Excel PowerQuery, and Power BI is helpful.
  • Self-motivated work habits and capable of prioritizing and balancing resources between multiple simultaneous initiatives
  • Direct experience in applicable manufacturing unit operations preferred, for example: soybean extraction/refining, spray drying, dry blending, emulsions, reactions, separations, distillation, filtration, corn wet milling is helpful but not necessary in this role.
  • Controls and plant automation knowledge or experience is very helpful.
